WTN: 2005 Domaine de l’Écu Cuvée Classique Muscadet

by Bill Buitenhuys » Mon Apr 30, 2007 10:09 pm

Seeing that it has been officially declared Muscadet Season

2005 Domaine de l’Écu (Guy Bossard) Cuvée Classique Muscadet (Loire) Flavorful cut hay and lime citrus, leesy, slight bitterness with a solid mineral core and lengthy finish. Bossard’s entry level muscadet is pure fun. Not as fully mineral driven as Briords or Expression de Granite but really quite delicious.

Is there really an official season? I thought it was always open season for muscadet? Is there a WRONG time to drink a muscadet? Your note might indicate there is not. Good work as always Bill, what was the price and what was the reason?
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?

what was the price and what was the reason?

All excellent answers. I will need to be reminded of that December 15th thing. Is that the day we drink expensive Bordeaux?

No. December 15th is the day we all drink hybrids and post the notes on eGobsofhedonisticfruit.com

We never drink expensive Bordeaux (well almost never...)

And thanks for the note Bill. I don't have the basic bottling, but do have a couple bottles of the Gneiss or Granite or Hot Molten Lava or something or other like that.

The basic bottling is new to this area, David, and isn't one from the Kysela stable. Someone from down Maine brings it in. Its well worth drinking while waiting for the rock-filled ones to age a bit.

Whew! I can't afford expensive Bordeaux anyway. So December 15th is St Paul of Ontario Day? (Not to be confused with that other St Paul.) Could we drink Norton too?
